If you had to change your first name, what would you change it to?

Would you ever change your first name? And if so, what would you change it to?

I don’t mind Tanya so I wouldn’t bother changing mine, but if I was choosing a name for myself I’d pick something a bit old-fashioned… something that makes you picture someone in the corner of a library with their nose stuck in a book. Like Edith, or Anna, or Ruth.

  1. I would never change my name because I think it’s special that my dad named me, but I think if I was to, for some crazy reason it would be something like Mika, or Martha, keeping with the M. I like your choices, I’m not sure about mine haha xx

  2. I imagine changing mine daily, and almost have – I get calls for Agnes at least twice a week šŸ˜‰ if I did officially change it I think I would go with Eleanor, in keeping with your old fashioned trend, always hiding in your shadow wearing embarrassing shoes.

  3. Dunno – I think I couldn’t be bothered. Bronwyn is fine.
I had a friend at school who was always trying to glam up her name. Nicola. When she was young she called herself Nicky. In high school it started to mutate into Nicci and the like. It always made me laugh. I always thought it was a flashing sign attesting to insecurity more than being cool.
Serenity and Syringa. We can both be glad our Dads did not get a unilateral vote in the naming thing šŸ˜€

  4. I always liked my middle name ‘Kate’ a whole lot better than my first name, but yeah, when your parents have obviously thought about the name and it has significant meaning to them, I definitely wouldn’t change it

  5. I quite like my name, even though I go by Andie instead of Andrea but that’s more because my parents used Andrea in formal situations, like getting told off šŸ˜‰
But if I had to go by a different name I might go by Atomix (from my gaming days) or Annika – yes, another A but that’s just a coincidence as I really like that name

  6. What a fun post!! Funny you posted this as my 10 year old daughter told me the other day that she wished her name was Alexis (her name is Olivia!). The grass is always greener, eh?? Love it!

  7. I used to hate my name ‘Plain Jane’ and insisted I’d change it, but once I was old enough I’d got used to it… since I was born in the middle of the night on 30 April and nearly 1 May my mom apparently wanted to call me Avril-May… how freaking LAME would that have been!? If my boys want to change their names I wont mind. So far they seem to like being named Quinn & Griffin though. šŸ™‚
