How do you define a friend?

Another Post a Day 2011 topic: How do you define a friend?

In line with my 11 things to accomplish in 2011, friends are something I need more of. The ones I have are great – but with one exception are mostly very far away!

To me a friend is someone who accepts you warts and all – and doesn’t expect you to change. A friend is someone you can go weeks without speaking to and then pick up exactly where you left off. A friend doesn’t wait for an invitation to visit – they just pop around and put the kettle on. Friends are people you can trust – you know whatever you tell them will stay between the two of you. A friend is someone who may disagree with you vehemently but won’t allow a disagreement to damage the friendship.

  1. One of my goals for this year is to be a better friend – I currently suck at it!
