Day 05 → Something you hope to do in your life

Day 05 → Something you hope to do in your life

When my kids are a lot older I would love to take a year away from work, pack a backpack (or 4) and hit the road. I am sure the life experience gained traveling would be as valuable (probably more) than a year in school.

They could practice math converting currencies and haggling in Turkish bazaars, geography would be taught with real maps and destinations, and history by visiting the places where history was made.

I’d like to make up the route as we go along – a bit of a spontaneous, “fly by the seat of your pants” type trip for this organised lover of lists and schedules. It’d be a refreshing change (and I’d probably love it for all of 5 minutes 🙂

  1. I am so going to do this. Camper van, Europe, 6 months. Like you said they will learn more than any book, computer or classroom could teach them.
